Diablo III By Blizzard – Diablo 3

Aug 7, 2012

Like any other fan of Blizzard and the “Diablo” series, I have been waiting for the release of Diablo III for years. Its official release date has been postponed and delayed more than once but finally, it was released on the 15th of May of 2012. The game follows the footsteps of the very successful game Diablo II that was released back in 2000. It holds the same ingredients that made Diablo II the successful game it is. You pick one of the available classes; you slay monsters, gather gold and experience to learn new skills to kill stronger enemies. Throughout the way you will finish quests and kill bosses until you reach Diablo, the devil himself.

It is impossible to talk about all of the aspects of the game so I will choose some of the important and new aspects to discuss, starting with the characters’ classes. The available classes are The Barbarian, The Wizard, The Monk, The Witch Doctor and The Demon Hunter.

  • The Wizard: This class resembles the sorceress class from Diablo II. They are vicious spell casters that use spells to control the elements to dispatch their enemies.
  • The Barbarian: The same old vicious and brutal barbarian from Diablo II. This class uses brute force and muscles to break its way into the bones of the enemies.
  • The Witch Doctor: Resembles the Necromancer from D2, this class uses spells to raise the dead to aid him in his battles against evil.
  • The Demon Hunter: Resembles the Amazon class from D2. This class uses bows and arrows to reach the enemies from a safe distance.
  • The Monk: It is a new character that uses divine power by utilizing power of will in order to gain powered to defeat its enemies. It is a melee based class.

The new thing about all of the classes is that the player can choose to play with a male or a female version of each class, so the classes are not gender specific like Diablo II which is a great addition because I always hated that I had to play with a female sorceress.

Diablo III also presents a very new concept when it comes to trading; it is called the Auction House. This new concept offers the players a marketplace where they can shop for new items, gems or crafted items to enhance their characters. The players have one of two choices, the first one is that they can sell or buy these items with in game gold as currency. If a player chooses to use this, he will have to pay a fee of up to 15%, depends on the kind of items, whether it is equipment (weapon, boot, helm and accessories) or a commodity (dyes, materials, gems and others). The other option is real money trading where a player can sell or buy items for real cash that can then be transferred to paypal or other money processing methods. The same fee applies.

The game also presents a whole new method of crafting items where you buy items from the merchants and craft those using special dyes, gems and other commodities in order to enhance the stats and properties of your item.

This is not all as Diablo III is still filled with amazing features but those are a few of the new things that Blizzard has added to the game.
