About DoABarrelRoll.co & Our Editorial Policy
DoABarrelRoll.co is an independent interactive web archive and physics simulator dedicated to preserving Google's November 3, 2011 "Do a barrel roll" search Easter egg, exploring its 1997 Nintendo 64 Star Fox 64 origins, and illustrating the real-world aerodynamic difference between an axial aileron roll and a helical barrel roll.
How Our 60FPS Simulator & Telemetry Engine Work
While official Google Search is hardcoded to perform a single four-second 360-degree turn per query, our engineering team built a hardware-accelerated CSS3 and Web Animations API (WAAPI) viewport simulator that supports continuous 2x, 20x, 67x, 100x, x200, and 1,000,000x rotations. Every page includes a stationary HUD outside the rotating container and honors the operating system's prefers-reduced-motion setting for motion-sensitive visitors.
Fact-Checking & Primary Source Standards
Every historical date, release milestone, voice-acting credit (honoring Rick May's portrayal of Peppy Hare in 1997), and technical CSS specification published on DoABarrelRoll.co is cross-checked against primary documentation from the W3C CSS Transforms Working Group, MDN Web Docs, and Nintendo hardware archives.
